Three Links Care Society
Incorporated in 1979, Three Links Care Society (Three Links) supports the well-being of older persons and younger people with special needs by providing an integrated and holistic range of health, housing and supportive services. Guided by a mission to “provide our residents with safe, compassionate care and housing that improves their quality of life”, the organization provides residential care and independent living services to 175 residents in Vancouver’s Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood and creates job opportunities for more than 100 staff, service providers and contractors. Three Links is seeking to augment its current volunteer Board of Directors (Board) with individuals possessing qualifications in specific target disciplines.
Board Directors
As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust and has the responsibility to foster the long-term success of Three Links, consistent with its Mission Statement and the Board’s responsibilities to its members and stakeholders. The Board is seeking strong leaders with a broad business sense who will be able to contribute on a wide range of issues and bring a strategic perspective and financial acumen, as well as play a role in creating a constructive boardroom style. Within this context, Three Links is seeking to recruit Directors who, collectively, have the following skills and experience.
- Board Experience and Governance Knowledge: prior board experience and/or knowledge of governance best practices, independence of judgment and perspective, and a willingness to prepare for board meetings and participate actively in meetings
- Executive Qualities: decisive – will make the right decision for Three Links; brings a strategic approach to issues; can articulate a vision; at ease with industry leaders, CEOs, and senior executives; comfortable in a relatively complex organization with multiple stakeholders whose concerns must be balanced to retain legitimacy and license to operate e.g. provincial government, municipalities, public
- Technical Competencies: financial acumen (CPA designation highly desirable); real estate development experience; legal expertise, particularly in a real estate environment; technology, cyber security, personal privacy experience; human resources experience; government relations experience; project management experience; analytical, risk management experience; or reputational management, positioning and marketing, corporate communications skills, influence behavioural change to target markets and stakeholders
