According to the 2016 census, more than 1 in 5 Canadians (about 7.7 million people) are visible minorities and 1.7 million are Indigenous. Our Canadian workforce is diverse, why then are Corporate boards not diverse? Organizations have grown to appreciate the value of having women on boards and the numbers have been steadily increasing, however, the gains are primarily made by white women. Indigenous, Black and Visible Minority (IBVM) subset of the population especially women are grossly underrepresented.
We are challenging organizations to make a conscious effort to broaden their talent pool by:
- recognizing that diversity is more than gender
- considering the intersectionality of women and the richness it brings to the boardroom.
We Create Impact By:
- Professional development: We enhance our members skillset through board governance training, webinars, and events. We also provide board readiness assessments.
