North Island College (the College) is honoured to acknowledge the traditional territories of the combined 35 First Nations of the Nuu-chah-nulth, Kwakwaka’wakw and Coast Salish peoples, on whose traditional and unceded territories the College’s campuses are situated.

ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE
Established in 1975, NIC brings education and training as a comprehensive community college that focuses on student success. Located in a spectacular west coast setting, the College proudly serves more than 9,000 students annually across four campuses, a learning centre, and through online and in-community learning. Over the past 40 years, more than 155,000 people have taken a course or completed a program at NIC.

NIC is building a multigenerational Indigenized living-learning neighbourhood of over 200 residents that is a place of self-development, informal gathering, support and rejuvenation for all students. The student commons will be NIC’s first on-campus student housing.

ABOUT THE ROLE
NIC is hiring a new Manager, Student Housing to join the Student Life team as it prepares to operate its new 217 bed facility which includes 20 suites for family and 157 single students. The Manager position is an incredible opportunity to be part of the student housing development from the ground up with doors opening in Fall 2024.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Life, the Manager, Student Housing will be a member of the Housing Operations Committee and will provide leadership in preparing for housing operations prior to opening and manage the housing commons on an ongoing basis. This includes, but is not limited to, working collaboratively with the Registrar to develop and launch an application system; working collaboratively with the Manager, Marketing and Future Students to develop a student housing marketing plan; working collaboratively with Student Life to develop a Community Standards & Living handbook; recruit staff members including student community leaders; and working with the VP Students and Community Engagement and Associate Director Student Life to develop a sustainable operating budget.
