Manager, Labour Initiatives
$80,800.00 - $114,400.02 annually

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food’s Food and Beverage Branch leads market and business development activities for farmers, food processors and Indigenous communities as well as key initiatives such as Feed BC, Buy BC, and the B.C. Food Hub Network.

As the Manager, Labour Initiatives, you will lead the development of policies, strategies and initiatives to address critical labour issues experienced by BC agricultural and food operations. You will collaborate with a wide network of partners and stakeholders including all levels of government and industry associations to enhance labour market analysis and lead workforce development initiatives, reduce reliance on scarce resources (e.g. temporary foreign workers and domestic farm workers), and improve the resilience of agriculture and food businesses in BC.

Qualifications for this role include:

• University degree in agriculture, public administration/policy, human resources, business administration or a related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience; OR
• A diploma in agriculture, public administration/policy, human resources business administration or a related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience.
Recent related experience must include a minimum of 3-5 years of experience (as above) in each of the following:
• Experience conducting public sector policy analysis and development.
• Experience conducting consultations with industry associations and other levels of government.
• Experience providing advice and recommendations to senior decision-makers.
• Experience working collaboratively across organizations to advance the resolution of high-profile and sensitive policy issues.
