Brightside’s mission is to provide affordable homes to those who need it most and to fight for a future where people of all income levels have a home within a vibrant and healthy community. Seniors, families and people with disabilities are some of the most significantly impacted by the housing affordability crisis facing our city. Brightside is a private-sector, non-profit organization that currently owns and manages 26 buildings comprising of 940 units across the city of Vancouver. With assets of nearly $250 million, it is one of British Columbia’s largest housing societies.
To continue to elevate our governance, we are seeking specific skillsets to be added to our Board. We are currently looking for skills and experience in the areas of legal, fundraising, and social support services. We are actively looking for members of our community who can provide an underrepresented perspective. We welcome applicants who identify as Indigenous, Black, people with disabilities and from communities of racial, gender, and sexual diversity who may have these skills. We don’t require new members of our board to have previous board experience – we see experience serving on boards, committees, working groups or similar advisory bodies as a plus. We offer board training for new board directors who need such support.
