A B O U T T H E R O L E
As a member of the City’s Senior Management team, the Fire Chief reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and assumes overall responsibility for the management and operations of Fire & Rescue Services. The Fire Chief has direct oversight of the planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing of local fire fighting, fire prevention, rescue and safety operations, and programs for the City. The Fire Chief provides leadership across the team and develops valuable and inclusive partnerships with key internal and external partners across the City, community, and sector.

This is an exciting professional opportunity for an experienced, progressive, and forward-thinking leader in Fire & Rescue Services. The preferred candidate will bring demonstrated leadership experience with a successful record in strategic planning, operations, and administration. This position requires superior communication and interpersonal skills as well as a consultative approach and effective management style. The preferred candidate will be required to bring an extensive knowledge of fundamental principles and practices related to modern and proactive fire and rescue services.

The salary for the position is $187,665 (annual over a 37.5 work week) supplemented by a competitive total compensation plan. The position is eligible for vacation time supplemented by a compressed day off program and secondary days off.
